Ou to PAX AMERICANO = VOLUME ONE: THE COMING OF THE STORM...
THE STORM BREAKS A COSMIC AMERICAN HISTORY TEXTBOOK BY MICHAEL HUNT
The first in Varga Gallery's 2007 Summer Solo Series, Michael Hunt's Pax Americano show
is a series of “chapters” from an imaginary social studies textbook.
Totally unauthorized, ill advised, and non-existent; Pax Americano is a series of naturally fallen,
sandblasted redwood paintings full of humor and mischief with total adherence to
the “everything is connected” ideas of the East while terrifyingly addicted to the Wild West.
The work bends & blends the elements of POP while mocking & emulating FOLK.
Below are some examples from Pax Americano:

Michael Hunt was conceived at the Woodstock Festival in Bethel, New York and born in 1970 in Honesdale, PA -
the birthplace of the American Railroad. He lives and works near Woodstock, NY.
His paintings are Cosmic American Art - a conceptual hybrid of Pop & Folk that examines, indicts, celebrates
& ultimately surrenders to the search for that mythic & ragged "American Dream.”
The work is a rest stop half way between the dream world and the waking life.
He has shown his artwork in forty-one group exhibits since 1999. A February 2001 exhibit at Zeke's Gallery
in Montreal was his first solo show, which was followed by a successful return engagement in summer 2003.
In November 2002, Michael's sculpture, "Heavenly Beatles" was auctioned by Sothebys.com.
He was featured on the Wynwood Arts District Tour at Basel Miami in 2004.
